Prominent Chefs Serve Up a Message to Congress: Label GMOs
December 2, 2014
More than 700 chefs - including Tom Colicchio, José Andrés, Art Smith and Sam Talbot - are urging members of Congress to support legislation to mandate labeling of genetically modified foods and to oppose efforts to block state GMO labeling laws.
"This is about transparency in the marketplace and preventing consumer deception," agreed Colin O'Neil, director of government affairs at the Center for Food Safety. "Consumers can only make informed decisions when they are given the information to do so. We require labels on everything from juice from concentrate to foods that have been irradiated; why should genetic engineering be any different?"

March 24, 2012
As professional basketball continues to make headlines mid-season and March Madness is underway for college basketball, the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress points to the role of chiropractors in helping basketball players perform their best.
"Chiropractic care helps to give a team and athlete a competitive advantage in whatever sport they participate in. Specifically, it helps to enhance endurance levels, assist in the recovery from many structural injuries and achieve overall peak performance," shares Dr. Craig Buhler, who for 26 years served as the team DC for the Utah Jazz, treating countless athletes including NBA Hall of Famer John Stockton. "By including chiropractic into an athlete's regular health practices, one is able to maximize training and optimize functional balance and skill."

As I write this today, two of our beautiful practice members are awaiting the arrival of new additions to their families. Adjusting women through pregnancy is one of the most rewarding parts of our work, because a healthier pregnancy means an easier labou
On Monday night at our workshop, a young woman told the story of the traumatic birth of her son, and the subsequent eight years of poor health he has suffered as a result. She was unaware that Chiropractic care through pregnancy would have given him a better start, and angry that she didn't know this prior to her son's conception. I promised her I'd get the word out. This article is dedicated to her and her son with the intent that this information will prevent another mother and child years of heartbreak.

Posture makes a difference
by Fairfax Regional Media
May 15, 2013
EVERY year two million Australians are affected by back pain. Chiropractors such as local Sol MacKenzie of MacKenzie Chiropractic are asking Australians to focus on posture during national Spinal Health Week.
Mr MacKenzie said chiropractors used to focus on more technical aspects of healing but were now looking at the importance of diet, exercise and posture to improve health. Many people with office jobs could spend eight hours a day sitting, which created a set posture, he said.

by Giles Bruce
September 6, 2017
Dr. Timothy Ames had a traditional primary care practice for a quarter of a century, starting in 1987. He grew increasingly incensed by the bureaucratic obstacles being put in the way of doctors caring for patients.
So he went nontraditional. At his new practice, he doesn't accept insurance of any kind. He charges patients a monthly subscription fee for unlimited visits. He is available by phone, by text, after hours. He explained the difference between the two approaches:

Poor-fitting Athletic Shoes Can Lead to Back Pain, Chiropractors Say
by American Chiropractic Association
December 6, 2005
ARLINGTON, Va., -- Too many people choose fashion over function when purchasing running shoes, not realizing that poor-fitting shoes
can do more than hurt their stride; they can also lead to pain throughout the body.
Because footwear plays such an important role in the functional biomechanics of the human body -- especially for runners and other athletes -- choosing the right shoe can help eliminate pain in your back, hips, knees and feet, says the American Chiropractic Association (ACA). "Your feet are the foundation of your body, and if they are not properly supported you can have problems anywhere from the bottom of your feet up through your neck," explains Jeffery Solomon, DC, president of the ACA's Council on Sports Injuries & Physical Fitness.
Placebos, Nocebos, and Chiropractic Adjustments
by Samuel Homola, D.C.
April 10, 2005
Appropriate spinal manipulation provides both real and placebo benefits in the treatment of mechanical-type neck and back problems.
But chiropractic adjustments based on the vertebral subluxation theory may offer a placebo effect that is outweighed by a nocebo effect. The word placebo, which is Latin for "I shall please," first appeared in the literature in 1785 and was eventually defined as "make-believe medicine." There is plenty of evidence to indicate that spinal manipulation has beneficial effects -- both real and placebo.
