THE ancient Chinese therapy of acupuncture has gone hi-tech.

Laser beams have replaced needles to tackle acute and chronic neck, back, hip and knee pain. Laser acupuncture is also being used to relieve migraines, morning sickness, period pain, muscle sprains and strains, symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, urinary tract infection, eczema and bed wetting in children.

Nearly 1 in 20 Americans older than 50 have artificial knees, or more than 4 million people, according to the first national estimate showing how common these replacement joints have become in an aging population.

Doctors know the number of knee replacement operations has surged in the past decade, especially in baby boomers. But until now, there was no good fix on the total number of people living with them.

The use of antibiotics has reached its peak. The reason for that is the drug-resistant bacterium which thrive faster than the experts find out a way to destroy them.

Before the occurrence of the antibiotics in 1940, the herbs and foods helped in the fight against bacteria and infections, many of which still exist as a holistic healer. Our predecessors used natural solutions instead of antibiotics for treatment of illnesses.

Crazy but true - our family really has tested and reviewed over 80 mineral sunscreens, and we know the best natural sunscreens that really work! In this comprehensive sunscreen review, we share which ones stay on in the water or when you sweat...

Which brands make you look white like a ghost and which go on smoothly, what got us burned and what natural ingredients are REALLY the best (and the brands that are tricking you with their marketing). We've learned a lot about sun safety and sunscreen efficacy, and I continue to do research on things like Vitamin D. We started in 2010 with 28 of the 40 natural sunscreens that the Environmental Working Group (EWG) rated as "safe" at the time. (They now rank hundreds that way; exciting to see more and more brands getting on board!)

If you are diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse, have no fear as natural remedies can help you to endure the annoying symptoms of this benign disorder.

Women are far more likely than men to be diagnosed with this syndrome and oddly, there is even a specific body type related to this malady. The typical profile is a slender female with long arms, tapering fingers and a wide hand span. They also seem to be very limber and loose-jointed. Doctors pick up on this diagnosis when listening to the heart and hear a click murmur. Further studies with an echocardiogram will confirm the prolapse and offer pictures for review.

Elevated blood pressure is when the pressure on the arteries and blood vessels becomes too high and the arterial wall becomes distorted causing extra stress on the heart.

Long term-high blood pressure increases the risk of stroke, heart attack and diabetes. Frequently, there are no symptoms as blood pressure increases but warning signs for very high blood pressure can include chest pains, confusion, headaches, ear noise or buzzing, irregular heartbeat, nosebleeds, tiredness, or vision changes.

These days, a very common decision many parents-to-be face is whether to induce labour or wait for labour to begin spontaneously.

Women and their partners should be aware that induction of labour for a low risk pregnancy introduces a number of risks to a potentially normal labour and birth. Many parents are not aware of the reasons why waiting for labour to start without any interference is preferable and beneficial, when there are no medical complications. Unfortunately, it's not as simple as having some medication and labour begins (and ends) just as it would normally - it's actually very different.
