Gluten Intolerance and the Herbicide Glyphosate: A National Epidemic
by Martin michener
August 21, 2014
Everyone has noticed the recent rise of gluten intolerance. Grocery store shelves are now lined with products which avoid using gluten in any form.
But we still have little idea why this food allergy has swept through our population to produce such widespread problems. Articles associate it with celiac disease (sprue) and leaky gut, in which undigested food proteins are allowed to enter the blood stream, causing numerous inflammatory problems. Gluten sensitive friends and family of mine have tried eating USDA organic wheat products. Some have had positive results, others still cannot tolerate gluten from any source.
Tattoo ink poisoning Americans
by Julie Wilson
August 22, 2014
If you're reading this, there's a good chance that you have a tattoo. After all, nearly half of the population has decided at some point in their life that it was a good idea to permanently ink an image, or special symbol, onto their skin.
But now there's a new reason to rethink getting inked. Have you ever considered exactly what tattoo ink is made of? The ink is really pigment, and most are made of metal salts; however, some are made of plastics or vegetable dyes, and if organic, they're usually plant-based.
Antidepressant Microbes In Soil: How Dirt Makes You Happy
by Bonnie L. Grant
August 25, 2014
Prozac may not be the only way to get rid of your serious blues. Soil microbes have been found to have similar effects on the brain and are without side effects and chemical dependency potentials.
Natural remedies have been around for untold centuries. These natural remedies included cures for almost any physical ailment as well as mental and emotional afflictions. Ancient healers may not have known why something worked but simply that it did. Modern scientists have unraveled the why of many medicinal plants and practices but only recently are they finding remedies that were previously unknown and, yet, still a part of the natural life cycle. Soil microbes and human health now have a positive link which has been studied and found to be verifiable.
Why the Use of Glyphosate in Wheat Has Increased Celiac Disease
by Dr. Mercola
September 14, 2014
The use of glyphosate, the active ingredient in the broad-spectrum herbicide Roundup, has dramatically risen over the past 15 years, right in step with the use of GE crops.
Dr. Anthony Samsel and Dr. Seneff produced some phenomenal research1 on this connection, which was published in December last year. Previously, she has investigated the relationship between glyphosate and the development of a wide array of modern diseases, including autism. She believes that glyphosate may in fact act as a transporter for aluminum (a common vaccine adjuvant) into the brain. It also appears to transport arsenic into the kidneys. For more in-depth information on this glyphosate-autism link, please listen to the full version of Dr. Seneff's interview.
FDA Targets Essentials Oils: Sees EOs as Threat to New Ebola Drugs?
October 4, 2014
The FDA issued warning letters this week to the two largest distributors of essentials oils in the United Sates, Young Living and dÅTERRA. The FDA is claiming that their products are being marketed as unapproved drugs.
According to the FDA, these promotions - especially ones related to Ebola - are inaccurate but not unexpected. "Oftentimes with public health incidences, like Ebola or even during H1n1, we see products that are marketed, often online, that claim to treat or cure the disease...without FDA approval," FDA spokeswoman Stephanie Yao said in an interview, adding that "these sorts of things pop up" in almost any public health crisis.
World's first artificial cow's milk to hit the market next year
by Bec Crew
November 11, 2014
Bioengineers in the US are developing the world's first artificial cow's milk made from genetically engineered yeast in an effort to put a more environmentally sustainable option on the market.
Earlier this year, a synthetic dairy start-up called Muufri (pronounced "Moo-free") was founded by two bioengineers in California - Perumal Gandhi and Ryan Pandya. They're working on perfecting an artificial cow's milk made from a special variety of yeast that has been genetically engineered to produce milk proteins.
Ebola cure: WATER! Drinking a gallon of fluid daily recognized as key to survival
by Ethan A. Huff
November 22, 2014
One of the primary lessons being learned from the Ebola crisis is that fancy meds and vaccines aren't needed to cure the disease. Simple water, it turns out, is one of the best treatments for the hemorrhagic illness.
Drinking four liters, or about one gallon, of water daily is critical for surviving the infection, say scientists. And rehydration solutions containing water with added minerals like potassium and magnesium are even better for overcoming the extreme shock that occurs when the body loses too much water, such as with Ebola. "When people are infected, they get dry as a crisp really quickly," said Simon Mardel, an emergency room doctor advising the World Health Organization (WHO) on Ebola in Sierra Leone, the second-hardest-hit country besides Liberia. "Then the tragedy is that they don't want to drink."
Prominent Chefs Serve Up a Message to Congress: Label GMOs
December 2, 2014
More than 700 chefs - including Tom Colicchio, José Andrés, Art Smith and Sam Talbot - are urging members of Congress to support legislation to mandate labeling of genetically modified foods and to oppose efforts to block state GMO labeling laws.
"This is about transparency in the marketplace and preventing consumer deception," agreed Colin O'Neil, director of government affairs at the Center for Food Safety. "Consumers can only make informed decisions when they are given the information to do so. We require labels on everything from juice from concentrate to foods that have been irradiated; why should genetic engineering be any different?"
Chronic Or Permanent Stress Can Result In Mental Disorders Such As Schizophrenia
by Justin Caba
December 10, 2014
Long-term stress's impact on cells in the immune system, primarily microglial cells, can lead to the development of mental disorders, such as schizophrenia.
A recent study published in the Rubin science magazine has revealed that chronic or permanent stress's effect on microglial cells - immune-competent cells responsible for repairing synaptic links, removing damaged synapses, and facilitating the growth of new brain neurons - can lead to the development of mental disorders, such as schizophrenia.
Foods That Fight Inflammation
February 1, 2015
Your immune system attacks anything in your body that it recognizes as foreign-such as an invading microbe, plant pollen, or chemical. The process is called inflammation.
Many people suffer from chronic inflammation due to the modern diet and lifestyle. Processed food, sugar, hydrogenated and trans fats, stress, malnutrition, obesity, pollution, heavy metals and excessive exercise cause this condition, because they cause overactivity in the immune system, that can lead to joint pain, fatigue, and damage to the blood vessels. (Editor Note: GMO's are the cause of most of these ailments we morals suffer from.)
