If you are diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse, have no fear as natural remedies can help you to endure the annoying symptoms of this benign disorder.

Women are far more likely than men to be diagnosed with this syndrome and oddly, there is even a specific body type related to this malady. The typical profile is a slender female with long arms, tapering fingers and a wide hand span. They also seem to be very limber and loose-jointed. Doctors pick up on this diagnosis when listening to the heart and hear a click murmur. Further studies with an echocardiogram will confirm the prolapse and offer pictures for review.

The weekend of May 17, writer Lindsay Kujawa and her toddler son Ronin were at a family pool party. Kujawa sat at the edge of the pool while Ronin played on the top step of the spa, and for five seconds she shifted her position.

Suddenly, she noticed Ronin wasn't on the step and was instead being whirled around by the jets in the whirlpool, frantically trying to get his head above water. She pulled him out immediately and other than him coughing and being very upset, he seemed totally fine after a few minutes and they went on with the rest of the party.

A recent case study reported in the Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research suggests that chiropractic adjustments can help reverse and prevent autism and issues related to the autism spectrum.

The patient was an adopted three-year-old girl who was born at 28 weeks weighing 2 pounds, 5 ounces by a woman who had a history of prior drug abuse. After two years of abnormal behavior and receiving multiple "autism" diagnoses from medical doctors, her parents decided to take her in for a thorough developmental evaluation. Five critical items were failed: social/emotional, communication, cognitive, adaptive/self-help and sensory.

You might not think to call a balneotherapist when your face breaks out or a reflexologist when asthma flares. But alternative medical practices, no matter how weird they might seem, are gaining traction.

Technically, "alternative" treatments are used in place of conventional medicine; when used alongside standard medical practices, alternative approaches are referred to as "complementary" medicine. The benefits (or lack of benefits) of alternative therapies are far from clear, since there have been few large-scale randomized clinical trials of them. Still, in 2008, more than 38 percent of American adults said they had used some form of alternative medicine. Here is a guide to some of those treatments:

Kraft Foods Global, Inc. and a food chemical company known as Kemin Food Technologies, Inc. have both propositioned the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)'s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) in recent years to approve the use of propionic acid.

Kemin says its liquid propionic acid and salts solutions, collectively known as BactoCEASE, extend the shelf life of meat products, and protect them against contamination by Listeria monocytogenes. But long-term consumption of both propionic acid and sodium benzoate has been linked to causing serious side effects, including brain damage, personality disorders, gastrointestinal problems, autism, and various other neurological problems. And yet Kemin wants to have these additives specifically listed on ingredient labels as "anti-microbial" nutrients in order to fool the public into thinking they are safe.

A former official with the Philippine government's population control organization has released an official medical report affirming that Filipina women were injected with sterilizing agents without their knowledge or consent.

Advertised as a national vaccination effort, the program involved the lacing of anti-tetanus toxoids with a sterilizing chemical known as HCG. Thousands of Filipino women between the ages of 15 and 45 were inoculated by the tainted vaccines. Only through the efforts of Catholic church organizations was the tainted vaccine brought to public attention" Kenyan women were injected with a tetanus vaccine corded with Beta-HCG to cause infertility and miscarriages. The Bishops of Kenya issued a courageous statement exposing this secret sterilization program disguised as a tetanus vaccine.

And what doctors are prescribing as an alternative is just as dangerous. Action Alert! We've told you before about the dangers of prescription opioid painkillers: drugs like oxycodone (OxyContin) and hydrocodone (Vicodin) are incredibly addictive...

Alarmingly, a full 20% of pregnant women now use these prescription painkillers, according to the New York Times. What's worse, not all women are being prescribed opioids equally: those with Medicaid, as well as those who live in the south, are being prescribed painkillers during pregnancy at much higher rates: 23% of women on Medicaid, compared to 14% of women with private insurance, are being prescribed opioids.

Have you ever heard of DPA, also called diphenylamine? This is a chemical used widely on apples after they have been harvested. DPA is used to prevent what the industry calls storage scald -brown spots that appear on the fruit.

As a result of tests done in 2010 by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) which found 80% of apples on US produce shelves contain on average 0.42 ppm of DPA, Europe will be cutting its imports unless DPA numbers can drastically reduce. How will North Americans respond though? With there being 4 times more DPA than what's allowable in Europe, American standards seem much more lenient and the care taken to protect citizens from hazardous chemicals is not as strict a priority.

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.
