What You Don't Know About Salt CAN Hurt You
by Erin Ter Beest
March 10, 2014
CDC studies suggest that a lower rate of salt consumption might actually be harmful. People who consume the least amount of salt were actually found to have the highest rates of cardiovascular disease.
The most commonly known additive found in salt is iodine, which has been added to salt for almost a century in order to help prevent thyroid disease. While iodine is important to thyroid health, the iodine added to salt is not a form that is very absorbable by the body and therefore, is largely wasted. When iodine is added to salt, it is necessary for manufacturers to also add in sugar, usually in the form of corn syrup (*GMO alert*). Iodine, in the form of potassium iodide, is unstable when combined with sodium. By adding sugar to the salt/iodine combination, the manufacturer is able to prevent oxidation and keep the iodine stable. The sugar also prevents discoloration that may make salt appear unpalatable. When looking for sugar on the nutrition label for salt, look for the word "dextrose."
The Best Dietary Sources of Iodine
by Michael Ravensthorpe
March 8, 2014
Iodine is an essential trace nutrient that is responsible for producing thyroid hormones. These hormones are responsible for regulating the metabolism, which affects the speed with which our bodies use energy, cholesterol, and heart rates...
Sea vegetables, or seaweeds, are the kings of iodine - which makes sense, since iodine ions mainly concentrate in oceans and saltwater pools. Though all sea vegetables are rich in iodine, perhaps the greatest source is bladderwrack.
Store Yogurt Won't Do Squat for Your Health
February 10, 2014
As I was standing in line at the grocery store the other day, I noticed an older lady in front of me had an entire cart loaded with commercial yogurt.
I immediately felt very empathetic for her situation as she obviously was placing high importance on yogurt in her diet - perhaps to help some sort of chronic digestive issue. What is really sad is that it is virtually certain that she was experiencing little to no benefit for her efforts. This is because standard store yogurt including those squeezable yogurt tubes for kids are not the probiotic filled food that the television commercials and other advertising would lead you to believe.
Coconut Oil Reverses the Effects of Alzheimer's in 50 Year Old Woman
by Raul Lora-Zamorano
February 6, 2014
Simple and routine tasks were becoming frustrating and burdensome. The symptoms persisted and soon the memory issue raised its head. At first it was sporadic, however it began to progress almost in a geometric fashion.
I opened my laptop and started to think. I remembered a friend commenting several years back that his father-in-law who suffered from Alzheimer's had benefitted from some sort of oil. I opened Google search, typed in Alzheimer's, oil. That was it. What followed was a genuine "Eureka!" moment. Up came a literal Tsunami of search results. At first I was bewildered: which should I look at first? Everywhere I looked the words "coconut oil" were staring me in the face. To this day I cannot tell you where I read first. Suffice to say that when I looked up it was 6AM.
Forced Vaccination is Equivalent to Human Experimentation and Subject to the Nuremberg Code
February 5, 2014
The loss of our basic right to determine our own health care including Forced Vaccinations is coming and in many cases the precursors already exist. When We The People no longer have the right to decide what goes into our bodies...
This article will discuss this point and the reasons so many of us choose not to vaccinate and will stand by that decision. Only the use of tyrannical force will overcome that objection. Study after study is proving that vaccines are ineffective, may cause the very disease they are purported to prevent and in some cases may cause more harm to us than the actual disease. Peer Reviewed studies now link vaccines and psychotropic drugs to such physical and mental diseases as Cancer, SIDS, Dementia, Autism, ADHD, Behavioral Disorders and a host of other maladies we as a nation suffer on a massive scale, some of which we as a nation lead the world in.

So with its nontoxic friendliness and status as an endlessly abundant resource, let's swap out some toxic solutions for ample, innocuous, and inexpensive salt.
12 health benefits of apple cider vinegar
by Melissa Breyer
Legend has is that Cleopatra once dissolved a pearl in a measure of vinegar before drinking the concoction, thus winning a wager against Marc Antony that she could spend a fortune on a single meal.
Truth or apocrypha, we may never know, but the Queen of the Nile most likely knew the special qualities of vinegar. Since 5,000 BC, the Babylonians had been using it as a preservative and condiment; and long before Cleopatra's costly cocktail, Hippocrates had extolled vinegar's medicinal qualities. In fact, the Vinegar Institute touts the tart liquid as one of our earliest remedies.
One Writer Breaks Down The Real Deal On Ditching Shampoo
by Tara Rasmus
January 23, 2014
Recently, we learned that you all have serious opinions about washing (or, more accurately, not washing) your hair when we wrote about a blogger who hasn't washed her hair in five years. Jacquelyn Baers told The Huffington Post.
Well, writer Lauren O'Neal at The Hairpin is here to make a new case for "alterna-poo." O'Neal abandoned shampoo three years ago for a new routine: She rinses her hair first with apple cider vinegar, then with baking soda (she does this routine about once a week).

A mother's flu shot nightmare
by Lisa Marks Smith
January 5, 2014
Lisa Marks Smith was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is married and the mother of two sons. She is self-employed, working for Icon Beauty. Following her flu shot and near death experience in 2005, she learned about alternative therapies.
Within days of getting the shot, I knew something was wrong. I called my parents and told them to skip my son's orchestra concert on Tuesday. I wasn't feeling right and didn't want to get my Dad sick before his surgery. When I set up at a craft show with my friend Jackie on Friday night, I complained of a tickle in my throat. I woke up terribly sick the next morning. The first appointment I could get with my family practitioner was Monday. By Monday, October 24th, I felt like I was going to die.
