n your lifetime at least 95 percent of all women and 90 percent of men will experience a headache. All of this pain will account for over 150 million missed days of work and $13 billion in lost productivity.

Many people take medicine but that only temporarily helps the symptoms. It's like taping over a hole in a damn. It temporarily stops the symptom of water leaking out but hasn't corrected the problem. Water will find its way. That's okay. I'm fine with medications if they help you get headache relief so you can sleep or are able to work but what about preventing them and solving what causes them? That's where you need to look a little further.

According to the American Pregnancy Association, 50 to 70 percent of pregnant women experience back pain. Mother-to-be Colleen Hartley of Frisco knew back pain was a possibility, but she said she didn't expect the pain she felt during week 29.

"It was pretty bad. I could not even walk my dog around the block without walking extra slow and it was pretty painful," said Hartley. When she talked to her obstetrician about the pain, the doctor recommended prenatal chiropractic care, an alternative form of medical care gaining popularity among pregnant women.

Coconut oil can handle the toughest scrubbing, reconditioning, and greasing jobs. Learn how to replace expensive and toxic products with coconut oil.

If you haven't switched to non-toxic household products yet, now is the time. Each year the U.S Poison Control hotline receives thousands of calls regarding accidental poisoning by common household cleaners and products. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) warns that 53 percent of the household cleaners they reviewed contain ingredients that can harm our lungs. Some products also contain carcinogens, such as formaldehyde and chloroform. Even more concerning, just seven percent of cleaners adequately disclose harmful ingredients. And the EWG warns many commercial "green cleaners" are equally misleading.

My husband used to be really skeptical of natural therapies like essential oils, until we had to try them for our little ones. He was trained up relying on modern medicine and innovation as the "best way" to take care of just about anything.

However, with a lot of in-home experiments, and a lot of studying the natural, organic compounds and phytochemicals (plant chemicals) that are produced naturally, he has had quite a "turn-around" and has begun to realize the benefits of natural essential oils and remedies, in addition to their diminished or lack of toxic build up and side effects we can get from man made pharmaceuticals. He also made the connection that many pharmaceuticals are derived and manipulated from naturally occurring (often harmless) compounds and the only way major pharmaceutical companies can patent them is to alter them in a lab in order to claim limited proprietary rights to market them. Lavender could be perhaps one of the most versatile herbs and essential oils in the world.

The California Department of Public Health announced "a presumptive positive case of plague" involving someone from Georgia who had spent time in early August in the state.

This is a good lesson for all of us, no matter what stage of life you're in. You'll see what I mean.

A young woman went to her grandmother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her - her husband had cheated on her and she was devastated. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as soon as one problem was solved, a new one arose.

It seems fitting that a plant called Mary Jane could smash the patriarchy. After all, only female marijuana flowers produce cannabinoids like the potent THC chemical that gets users buzzed.

Pot farmers strive to keep all their crops female through flowering female clones of one plant, called the Mother. And women are moving into the pot business so quickly that they could make it the first billion-dollar industry that isn't dominated by men.

Far more adults than anyone thought are seeking help from chiropractors, according to a new nationwide Gallup report.

That's about 63 percent more than the 20.6 million adults previously estimated in less comprehensive studies, and likely indicates that the "chiropractic first" movement touted by health experts troubled by the overuse of addictive drugs and surgery has become increasingly popular.
