FDA Targets Essentials Oils: Sees EOs as Threat to New Ebola Drugs?
October 4, 2014
The FDA issued warning letters this week to the two largest distributors of essentials oils in the United Sates, Young Living and dÅTERRA. The FDA is claiming that their products are being marketed as unapproved drugs.
According to the FDA, these promotions - especially ones related to Ebola - are inaccurate but not unexpected. "Oftentimes with public health incidences, like Ebola or even during H1n1, we see products that are marketed, often online, that claim to treat or cure the disease...without FDA approval," FDA spokeswoman Stephanie Yao said in an interview, adding that "these sorts of things pop up" in almost any public health crisis.
Gluten Intolerance and the Herbicide Glyphosate: A National Epidemic
by Martin michener
August 21, 2014
Everyone has noticed the recent rise of gluten intolerance. Grocery store shelves are now lined with products which avoid using gluten in any form.
But we still have little idea why this food allergy has swept through our population to produce such widespread problems. Articles associate it with celiac disease (sprue) and leaky gut, in which undigested food proteins are allowed to enter the blood stream, causing numerous inflammatory problems. Gluten sensitive friends and family of mine have tried eating USDA organic wheat products. Some have had positive results, others still cannot tolerate gluten from any source.
Chiropractors Who Publish the Truth About Vaccines to be Silenced in Australia
by Louise Kuo Habakus and Mary Holland J.D.
August 13, 2013
In a brazen restriction of freedom of speech, chiropractors in Australia are being told they can no longer give their patients any information criticizing vaccines, and they must take down any anti-vaccine material from their websites.
If there could possibly be one country with a worse pro-vaccine bias than the United States, it just might be Australia. Starting with the (wrong!) presupposition that vaccines are safe and effective, there are moves to silence any opposing viewpoints on vaccines, including the chiropractic profession. Working from a healing paradigm that does not include drugs, the chiropractic profession has a long history of healing people. But this infuriates the medical profession that believes only drugs can treat sickness. The chiropractic profession has suffered much opposition in the U.S. also from the American Medical Association (AMA), who historically has tried to destroy them. The Supreme Court eventually found the AMA guilty of conspiracy to destroy the chiropractic industry.
Home Birth Safer Than Hospital Birth: Nation-Wide Study Netherlands
by Heidi Stevenson
June 26, 2013
Yet another study, this one consisting of every birth in The Netherlands over two years, demonstrates that home births are safer than hospital births. Women are more than twice as lifely to end up in intensive care if they give birth in a hospital!
In The Netherlands, the majority of births occur at home, not in hospitals. A study reported in theBMJ found that women whose pregnancies were low-risk suffered far fewer severe negative outcomes from home than hospital births, especially after the first pregnancy. The study, published 13 June 2013, focused on two serious adverse events: postpartum hemorrhage and manual removal of the placenta, both of which are life-threatening, and also included admission to intensive care, eclampsia, and more than four packed cells in a blood transfusion.

Alternative treatments: Medicine or not?
by Laura Newcomer
May 15, 2014
You might not think to call a balneotherapist when your face breaks out or a reflexologist when asthma flares. But alternative medical practices, no matter how weird they might seem, are gaining traction.
Technically, "alternative" treatments are used in place of conventional medicine; when used alongside standard medical practices, alternative approaches are referred to as "complementary" medicine. The benefits (or lack of benefits) of alternative therapies are far from clear, since there have been few large-scale randomized clinical trials of them. Still, in 2008, more than 38 percent of American adults said they had used some form of alternative medicine. Here is a guide to some of those treatments:
Jaw Pain and Chiropractic
March 12, 2015
Pain in the jaw joint, or temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD), is a common complaint for many people. In fact, a 2009 publication reported that TMD affects between 20-30% of the adult population, typically between 20 and 40 years old.
TMD is also the second most frequent cause of orofacial pain after dental / toothache pain. While acute TMD (pain less than three months) and chronic TMD (pain more than three months) are NOT considered to be life-threatening, they can significantly alter one's quality of life and for some, can be quite disabling.
Could GMOs Be Behind Your Digestive Problems?
by Rhonda Burns
June 22, 2014
Do you have digestive problems? Don't wait for science to sort it out, do your own test on the GMO effects on your health.
Genetically modified organisms are in an estimated 80% of the processed foods in our grocery stores, and some say they're responsible for the growing number of people suffering from a wide variety of symptoms, particularly digestive issues. Take the alleged possibility of a connection between GMO foods and intestinal hyperpermeability, or leaky gut syndrome, for example. Leaky gut syndrome results when tight junctions, which help to maintain a barrier in the gut, are altered or damaged, and unwanted toxins, microbes, undigested food or even waste pass into the bloodstream.
The Most Overlooked, Effective Prescription Drug
by Jamie Deckoff-Jones, MD
September 23, 2013
Oxygen makes up almost 21% of every breath we take. It is fundamental to life. Without it, we die in minutes. It is an odorless, colorless gas that is poorly understood by most doctors, even though it is regulated as a prescription drug in most countries.
An oxygen concentrator delivers oxygen through a tube to the patient via a cannula in the nose, a simple mask, or a non-rebreather mask. A non-rebreather mask has a reservoir which holds pure oxygen until the breath is taken; it has one way valves to prevent inspiration of ambient air and to allow exhalation gases out so carbon dioxide is not retained. Tanks are quieter, but at the high flows I'm using, need to be replaced frequently. Concentrators are noisy, but easier to move around and never run out, as they extract the oxygen directly from the air in the room. Concentrators can be portable, but most portables only produce 1-2 L/min (liters of flow per minute).
12 Plants that Create Positive Energy in your home.
July 6, 2016
While plants are commonly used to decorate a home or office, or brighten up a yard or garden, many plants can actually improve the flow of positive energy into a space.
Certain plants are able to purify the air, while others can provide a sense of well-being, peace and even stress relief. Getting rid of negative energy around you is an important step to regaining your health and happiness. Use these plants to promote positive energy that will benefit you and the people around you: The peace lily is believed to provide a means of prospering spiritually, mentally and physically.
