Dangerously 'D-ficient': Low vitamin D raises your risk of dementia
by Tony Dearing
October 29, 2016
The "D" in vitamin D doesn't stand for dementia. Or does it? We know that many older adults don't get enough vitamin D, and that's a problem. It can leave your bones brittle and more easily broken if you slip and fall.
What we didn't know, until now, is that a lack of vitamin D may be every bit as bad for your brain as it is for your body. According to a spate of recent studies, people age 60 and older who have low levels of vitamin D are significantly more apt to suffer cognitive decline.

Could GMOs Be Behind Your Digestive Problems?
by Rhonda Burns
June 22, 2014
Do you have digestive problems? Don't wait for science to sort it out, do your own test on the GMO effects on your health.
Genetically modified organisms are in an estimated 80% of the processed foods in our grocery stores, and some say they're responsible for the growing number of people suffering from a wide variety of symptoms, particularly digestive issues. Take the alleged possibility of a connection between GMO foods and intestinal hyperpermeability, or leaky gut syndrome, for example. Leaky gut syndrome results when tight junctions, which help to maintain a barrier in the gut, are altered or damaged, and unwanted toxins, microbes, undigested food or even waste pass into the bloodstream.

July 11, 2016
With temperatures forecast into the 90's today, I thought it would be a good day to serve up this Confetti Ice Wreath to our chickens. It's not only an excellent way to help your chickens cool down in the summer.
Save up those partial bags of frozen vegetables and leftover canned vegetables. Keep freezer burned fruit and those cranberries left over from Thanksgiving. Don't toss out bruised blueberries or mushy raspberries. Collect everything in a freezer bag until you are ready to make your wreath to make an easy, inexpensive summer treat for your chickens.
Coconut Oil Reverses the Effects of Alzheimer's in 50 Year Old Woman
by Raul Lora-Zamorano
February 6, 2014
Simple and routine tasks were becoming frustrating and burdensome. The symptoms persisted and soon the memory issue raised its head. At first it was sporadic, however it began to progress almost in a geometric fashion.
I opened my laptop and started to think. I remembered a friend commenting several years back that his father-in-law who suffered from Alzheimer's had benefitted from some sort of oil. I opened Google search, typed in Alzheimer's, oil. That was it. What followed was a genuine "Eureka!" moment. Up came a literal Tsunami of search results. At first I was bewildered: which should I look at first? Everywhere I looked the words "coconut oil" were staring me in the face. To this day I cannot tell you where I read first. Suffice to say that when I looked up it was 6AM.

Chronic Or Permanent Stress Can Result In Mental Disorders Such As Schizophrenia
by Justin Caba
December 10, 2014
Long-term stress's impact on cells in the immune system, primarily microglial cells, can lead to the development of mental disorders, such as schizophrenia.
A recent study published in the Rubin science magazine has revealed that chronic or permanent stress's effect on microglial cells - immune-competent cells responsible for repairing synaptic links, removing damaged synapses, and facilitating the growth of new brain neurons - can lead to the development of mental disorders, such as schizophrenia.
