Understanding Different Types of Magnesium
by Dr. Hrkal
February 9, 2017
Magnesium is one of those supplements that is very well known for its benefits throughout the natural health community. Magnesium is involved in over 300 biochemical processes in the body.
Numerous studies have demonstrated that magnesium supplementation and correction of deficiency has improved the aforementioned conditions. The problem with this essential mineral is that most people do not have sufficient levels for optimal health. A gradual depletion of nutrients from our soils has left many vegetables with lower levels of magnesium. Another factor that contributes to magnesium deficiency is that it often is depleted by various common conditions (i.e. IBS, Crohn's disease) and medications (i.e. proton pump inhibitors, diuretics).
Unapproved but Effective Cancer Cures
by John P. Thomas
September 2, 2016
Conventional physicians want us to believe that there are only three treatments for cancer - surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. In fact, allopathic physicians have exclusively use these three approaches for the past 100 years.
Even though it is clear that even the US government admits that radiation and chemo both cause cancer, these therapies continue to be used with little concern about the new cancers that they cause. The conventional cancer treatment system and the pharmaceutical companies that control it are dedicated to limiting the development of all other forms of cancer treatment. They have a chokehold on the development of alternative treatments, and they ruthlessly work together with the US FDA and various US government cancer research funding agencies to prevent new treatments from being approved for use by physicians. The reason is that most alternative cancer treatments are much less expensive than surgery, radiation, and chemo. They are also more effective and have many fewer (if any) unwanted side effects.
U.S.: House Republicans Strip Veterans Of Equal Access To Marijuana In Dead Of Night
June 26, 2016
On Wednesday, in the dead of night, as House Democrats held a sit-in for gun safety, House Republicans stripped language that would make it easier for qualified veterans to access state-legal medical marijuana.
With no transparency and little opportunity for Members to review, the House passed the legislation shortly after 3 a.m. local time Thursday. The Senate will vote on the legislation next. Currently, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) specifically prohibits its medical providers from completing forms allowing a qualified veteran to participate in a state medical marijuana program.
Turpentine for Baby: Dangers of Vicks Vapor Rub
by Beth Maxwell
January 9, 2017
Are you still smearing Vicks all over the kids when they have a cough or cold? This lovely winter weather is bringing on the cold and cough season with a vengeance this year but you might think twice before reaching for the familiar green Vicks jar.
Vicks Vapo Rub is said to cause breathing problems in babies. Vicks Vapor Rub contains ingredients that "can be irritants, causing the body to produce more mucus to protect the airway," according to a doctor who has been doing studies on the product. In a study released by the Wake Forest University of Medicine (in North Carolina), pediatricians warn that the ingredients of Vicks Vapo Rub could turn out to be harmful for young children and babies. The reason for this is that it can cause severe respiratory distress when applied.
Turn to kinesiology tape for 'treatment between treatment'
by Amy Verner
June 20, 2011
Since last week, people have been asking whether I have been sporting some stylish, new body art. In fact, I have had my foot and ankle covered in SpiderTech kinesiology tape to help heal a soft-tissue injury.
But while I am new to the world of kinesiology tape, kinesiology tape is not new to the world. But while I am new to the world of kinesiology tape, kinesiology tape is not new to the world. It dates back to the 1970s when Japanese chiropractor Kenzo Kase developed a cotton tape with an acrylic adhesive that could be used to treat a variety of conditions, from reducing inflammation to activating underused muscles. It also may offer some relief for cancer patients suffering from lymphedema.

TUD staff propose voluntary water saving
by Guy McCarthy
November 7, 2015
Tuolumne Utilities District staff are recommending water conservation measures be changed from mandatory to voluntary. This is the second time this year TUD staff have advised relaxing water-saving restrictions.
"We want customers going forward to keep using water judiciously, to try to use the same amount they used November 2013 to February 2014," said District Engineer Erik Johnson. "We're recommending conservation be voluntary, no longer mandatory. We aren't going to be policing it, or issuing violations, or going out and monitoring it."

Trouble sleeping? Experts say skip antihistamines
December 17, 2016
For people who take an antihistamine such as Benadryl for a cold or allergies, drowsiness is often a welcome side effect. But a Baylor College of Medicine sleep expert cautions against turning to this type of medication as a sleep aid.
"Many allergy sufferers know that antihistamines work for their symptoms but also make them sleepy. People sometimes turn to these medications to help them sleep, even when they're not sick. But the use of medication to force children or adults to sleep is generally not the best idea," said Dr. Philip Alapat, assistant professor of medicine.
