Delaying kindergarten enrollment for one year shows significant mental health benefits for children. Researchers found that a one-year delay in enrolling a child in kindergarten dramatically reduces inattention and hyperactivity at age seven.

Researchers found that children who were held back from kindergarten for as little as one year showed a 73 percent reduction in inattentiveness and hyperactivity compared to children sent the year earlier, according to this new study on kindergarten and mental health.

Before all of the blueberries disappear, I had to get one more summer dessert in. Take a look at this beautiful Paleo Blueberry Lemon Bread. It's loaded with protein-rich almond flour, nutrient-dense eggs, and oh-so-good-for-you coconut oil.

I'm a creature of habit, and the small rituals of life make me happy. Every Sunday morning I wake up, eat breakfast, and head to my local Farmer's Market. The first place we go is the gluten free bakery booth for Pao de Queijo (or Brazilian cheese bread.) My little one gets one plain and one olive. She eats the plain one right away. If you haven't tried these chewy little breads made with tapioca flour, you are seriously missing out. (Hmmm, I feel a new recipe post coming on!)

In a surprising move earlier this month, California Governor Jerry Brown signed what is now the toughest ban in the United States on personal hygiene products that contain microbeads.

AB 888 was authored by Representative Richard Bloom (D-Santa Monica) and sponsored by Californians Against Waste (CAW), 5 Gyres Institute, Clean Water Action, the Story of Stuff Project and the California Association of Sanitation Agencies (CASA). According to Bloom, while there have been other states that have passed similar bans, AB 888 goes a step further to avoid loopholes and ensure that only environmentally-safe alternatives are accepted.

One of the most difficult medical conditions to spell is also one of the most common. Plantar fasciitis is the most common cause of heel pain.

A person is afflicted with this medical condition when the tissue tears in the long ligament that runs along the bottom of the foot, called the plantar fascia ligament. The resulting symptoms include pain and inflammation that can be acute and often ongoing. It's estimated that 2 million Americans suffer from plantar fasciitis. However, many different factors cause the condition.

Numerous health professionals are evermore stressing the great health benefits of earthing.

Various studies have proven the healing effects of earthing, which has surprisingly been found to be more powerful than the use of antioxidants, pain killer medication, blood sugar regulators and at times even cancer medication. Earthing provides the body with natural balancing effects, which is done by shifting and stabilizing charged particles to and from the earth. Earthing is essentially ridding your body from free radicals, pollutants and heavy metals by discharging the body through direct contact with the earth.

Far more adults than anyone thought are seeking help from chiropractors, according to a new nationwide Gallup report.

That's about 63 percent more than the 20.6 million adults previously estimated in less comprehensive studies, and likely indicates that the "chiropractic first" movement touted by health experts troubled by the overuse of addictive drugs and surgery has become increasingly popular.

It seems fitting that a plant called Mary Jane could smash the patriarchy. After all, only female marijuana flowers produce cannabinoids like the potent THC chemical that gets users buzzed.

Pot farmers strive to keep all their crops female through flowering female clones of one plant, called the Mother. And women are moving into the pot business so quickly that they could make it the first billion-dollar industry that isn't dominated by men.

This is a good lesson for all of us, no matter what stage of life you're in. You'll see what I mean.

A young woman went to her grandmother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her - her husband had cheated on her and she was devastated. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as soon as one problem was solved, a new one arose.
