A receding hairline, the appearance of bald patches (alopecia), or thinning hair can be a disturbing experience for any person, and knowing how to fight hair loss can be a challenge.

Over the last few years, various vitamins and supplements have been promoted to boost hair growth and help hair grow back. For example, biotin, vitamin D, B-complex vitamins, and omega-3 are all said to combat hair loss and help hair regrow.

Iodine is an essential trace nutrient that is responsible for producing thyroid hormones. These hormones are responsible for regulating the metabolism, which affects the speed with which our bodies use energy, cholesterol, and heart rates...

Sea vegetables, or seaweeds, are the kings of iodine - which makes sense, since iodine ions mainly concentrate in oceans and saltwater pools. Though all sea vegetables are rich in iodine, perhaps the greatest source is bladderwrack.

Before all of the blueberries disappear, I had to get one more summer dessert in. Take a look at this beautiful Paleo Blueberry Lemon Bread. It's loaded with protein-rich almond flour, nutrient-dense eggs, and oh-so-good-for-you coconut oil.

I'm a creature of habit, and the small rituals of life make me happy. Every Sunday morning I wake up, eat breakfast, and head to my local Farmer's Market. The first place we go is the gluten free bakery booth for Pao de Queijo (or Brazilian cheese bread.) My little one gets one plain and one olive. She eats the plain one right away. If you haven't tried these chewy little breads made with tapioca flour, you are seriously missing out. (Hmmm, I feel a new recipe post coming on!)

Many people stretch, but few truly understand that it's an art and a science. There's a right way and a wrong way to derive all the inherent benefits.

There's an ancient adage that proclaims: "You are as young as your spine is flexible." People who've retained the elasticity of their spines and limbs appear youthful and "alive" in middle age and beyond. Consistency of practice and relaxation are two of the biggest keys in the art of stretching.

You know the feeling. It may start with a scratchy throat or with a few more aches and pains than normal. Or it could begin with a runny nose and a feeling of exhaustion. Yes, it's a cold coming on - or maybe worse - the flu.

Before you reach for the antihistamine, however, why not try an effective natural remedy instead? Essential oils have been used for centuries to fight the symptoms of the common cold. You can add them to your bathwater, diffuse them in the air you breathe or even apply them directly to your skin. Essential oils help the body fight off infection and serve to strengthen the immune system. In her book The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Essential Oils, Julia Lawless explains that essential oils can boost the body's defense system against bacteria, fungi and infections.

Millions of Americans are growing to distrust medical doctors, dentists, dermatologists and oncologists, mainly because we're finding out that most of them are paid big bucks by Big Pharma to dish out chemical medicines that only cover up the symptoms.

Medical doctors learn next to nothing about nutrition in school. Dentists push toxic fluoride for "stronger teeth," and insert highly toxic mercury "amalgam" silver fillings in the mouths of our children. Dermatologists use "cut and burn" methods to try to eradicate cancer, when most skin cancer is caused by consuming toxic foods, applying toxic lotions and using carcinogenic personal care products. Oncologists push deadly chemotherapy, mammograms, CAT scans, surgery and radiation for cancer treatment, when most cancer spreads in the blood, and when those treatments create new cancers anyway.

An Ontario chiropractor is seeing an increase in neck and back pain and he believes handheld devices - and the increased popularity of texting - are to blame.

The natural look of someone texting is quite uncomfortable and Dr. Peter Pain, a Kingston, Ontario, chiropractor. Pain said he worries about the future of this humped-over nation. "It will be scary in five or 10 years from now, seeing the hand, neck and shoulder issues from all the chronic texting people were doing as teenagers," Pain wrote on his blog.
